You can specify settings that determine the general behaviour of gotomaxx PDFMAILER and influence all actions via the general gotomaxx PDFMAILER settings.
PDFMAILER Settings General
Preview
You can define what gotomaxx PDFMAILER should do after a print-out.
•“Open preview” means that the gotomaxx PDFMAILER will open after every print-out.
•“Process directly without preview” means that gotomaxx PDFMAILER performs the actions specified under Multi Start or via a control symbol without opening the preview. No error messages or dialogues will be displayed.
•“Process directly without preview, display messages” means that gotomaxx PDFMAILER performs the actions specified under Multi Start or via a control symbol without opening the preview. Error messages or dialogues will be displayed.
File names
The “Default file name” you enter here will apply to all actions (save, email, etc.). Individual file names will have to be defined for each action via a workflow.
Compress and PDF/A
In addition to the format (PDF, JPG, TIFF, PJD), you can also define the generation profile. This includes e.g. format-dependent compression functions.
You can choose “Screen” or “Print”, whereby the option “Screen” results in a higher compression to generate the smallest possible file.
The option “Print” results in less compression and best quality.
Profil
For “PDF” format, you have the additional PDF/A-1b standard available. It allow generating PDFs in accordance with the relevant archiving standard.
Use the PDF compression settings to adjust individual settings.
Collect print jobs
In the final part of the basic settings, you can configure how PDFMAILER will handle multiple documents/print jobs.
•“Process individually” means that each document or print job will be processed separately. One action is performed per document.
•“Process together and generate PDF” means that all documents or print jobs are collected in the gotomaxx PDFMAILER preview. All collected documents are then merged into a single document.
•“Process together and generate multiple PDFs” means that all documents or print jobs are collected in the gotomaxx PDFMAILER preview. Each document is then processed individually using a single action (e.g. to generate an email to which all the collected documents are attached as individual PDFs).

Miscellaneous
Use the option “Save settings permanently” to permanently save your changes to the action or to save them only for the processing of the current document.
